well I am not sure what you have done so far. I found a directory called camera under /mnt/camera
I mount it and all is well. That is in my Fedora partition. At first I played around like you are but now I don't have to at all. Maybe Fedora has an automount for usb?? I couldn't get MD 10 to read my partition table so I couldn't install.
