Thank you Derek for your reply. I have made the
suggested /etc/logrotate.d/kdm file as per your
instructions. Did I discover a small oversight in
execution here?
Also, I am wondering if there is something I can
do to reduce the messages being written to
kdm.log?
This file on my system consists of a lot of lines
of the following type of info, being repeated each time I
boot my system:
The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:

> Using last definition for conflicting fields
> Warning: Symbol map for key <TLDE> redefined
> Using last definition for conflicting fields
> Warning: Symbol map for key <AE01> redefined
> Using last definition for conflicting fields
> Warning: Symbol map for key <AE02> redefined
> Using last definition for conflicting fields
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
/bin/bash: line 1: /usr: is a directory
