Hi all,

I have a dual boot system which automatically mounts my Windows XP

the mounting so it can be written to as well?

Yes. But at the risk of corrupting or losing your Windows XP filesystem. Writing NTFS is not yet fully trusted by most open source authors due to unpublished quirks.

You would do much better to set up a smaller, FAT32 partition and use that for transferring files.

Thanks Brian,

The reason I asked is that I heard that a couple of distributions were allowing this as an add-on or straight out of the box. I wasn't sure if any advances had been made to the technology to make it more reliable or not.

Regards,

Craig
