For instance, the site tells me that I should do this:

but I don't know what Mandrake 10's /path/to/my/site_perl should be.

You should be able to determine the path to your installations site_perl directory by issuing the following at the command line:

$ perl -V | tail -20

On my Mandrake 10.0 Official installation I get:

Characteristics of this binary (from libperl):
Compile-time options: MULTIPLICITY USE_ITHREADS USE_LARGE_FILES PERL_IMPLICIT_CONTEXT

/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.3

/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.2
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.1/i386-linux-thread-multi
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.1
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl
.

In my case, my site_perl directory is "/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl".
