Hi all,

I am wondering about the alt-sysreq keys to use when a system hangs.

What I found so far is:

Alt+Sysreq+R forces keyboard into XLATE mode
Alt+Sysreq+E forces an init 6 to the kernel
Alt+Sysreq+S syncs all your disks
Alt+Sysreq+B boots the system
Alt-SysReq-U force remount of all filesystems readonly

Is this correct?
And what is the best sequence to use these keys when needed?

It seems to me that R S U B (or E) would be the way to go.

Thanks,
Paul

There are known unkowns.
That is to say, there are things we know we don't know.
But, there are also unknown unknowns.
These are things we don't know we don't know.
