You may see what is on .ISO-CDimage just by mounting it as iso9660John Richard Smith wrote:
What exactly is a <file>.iso.gz file anyway ?
We have all seen and downloaded .iso files before But I've never seen a .iso.gz file before.
Will if decompress in the same way as a normal <file> .gz file is unzipped ?
If so, does it just write to disc in the usual way.

It could be anything but I'd try 'unzip <file>.iso.gz, and then burn the iso to a cd, by rigth-click in konq, and chos 'make is with k3b' or something similar. It should be an ordinary iso, that is zipped
by this command
#mount -t iso9660 YOURFILE.ISO YOURDIR
and you should look also at "man 8 mount" if it fails
I do not feel, that it will go with UID other than root.
Also, quite unsure, try to mount it as is is, gzipped. It may go on some systems.
