Why not just add a few root DNS servers to your /etc/resolv.conf and
restart the networking; that way you're not always dependent on what DNS
servers are being used by your ISP, eh?

(Improved our performance here quite a bit, and I always do the same for
my clients as well - especially when they're having strange issues like
this)
