One prob with that route, at least when it comes to something like Pek or Flux:

It's tougher to customise your startup environment, ie. what you want to start
*with* the WM you choose. Pek has a 'start' script that runs at...er...start, so
you can run your dockapps, etc. but if you go the .xintitrc --> startx way, you
can do cool stuff like:

#Pekwm
xset m 50/10 3 & (sets mouse sensitivity)
xset b off (turns off that annoying beep)
xset +fp $HOME/.fonts & (no exp necessary here)
xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 7 6 4 5" (enables the side buttons on MS mouse)

...and if yer goin' into KDE (bleh), all you need to do is type 'kde'.
