Jallan, I'm a little late into this thread, but just two things :

1. Please bottom-post (standard here, more readable).

2. You can decompress (unzip) in the command line, by typing :
"gunzip <-options> filename"  -  that is if you have gzip installed.  
Or, in konqueror (if you use KDE), just right-click the file and 
choose Action-->Extract here.
