ok every Win machine has a tcpip number ?
The linux box has a tcpip number ?
The network interface card is recognized ?
You can ping yourself on the linux box ?

Ah btw, you have to use samba if you are going to do more than tcpip web
or ftp transfers. But anyway a ping should go through.

YOu have to provide us with a little additional information.
