Hi,

I am trying to isolate a lock-up problem that I have mentioned here
before. Namely, my system seems to lock up after 36hrs. I started
running and paying closer attention to the xosview. According to the
utility, I am using 245M/256 M (I just added another 128 yesterday).
This includes USED+SHAR/BUFF/CACHE. I'm thinking that I need to
recompile the kernel, and remove some of the excess, since I did a
custom install and selected everything. However, when I do the make
zImage, I get

objcopy -O binary -R .note -R .comment -S compressed/vmlinux
compressed/vmlinux.out
tools/build bootsect setup compressed/vmlinux.out CURRENT > zImage
Root device is (8, 1)
Boot sector 512 bytes.
Setup is 3536 bytes.
System is 642 kB
System is too big. Try using bzImage or modules.

Too big for what?

Also, Am I the only one who is experiencing problems with
MandrakeUpdate?

Thanks for any help,

morris
