Hi all-

Is there a FAQ sheet for partitioning disks?

I have a 20GB disk. 1/2 is WinBlows98, and the other is Linux.
Apparently I had the Win partition too large, so that the boot
record for Linux wouldn't reside in a lower cylinder than 1024.

So, I shrunk my Microsnot partition, no problem.
Then Partition magic wouldn't resize or move the Linux partitions,
so I decided to reinstall from scratch. (after all, I've since
added SCSI and LAN boards, and Linux never booted or shutdown
properly)

So I backed up & deleted the Linux partitions. Booted the install
floppy, loaded the CD-ROM, and got as far as making the new partitions.
I can make the swap partition no problem, but that's as far as I
can get.

I've tried making a /boot partition and a / partition. Every time
I try this (in disk druid), I get the error message "boot partition
is too large." I've tried making a /boot partition at 256, 64, 32,
16, and even 1MB. All sizes yielded the message above.

I then tried creating the / partition, at various sizes, same error.

So, how do I do this? I recall I had a bear of a time the last time
I installed Linux. Is this something that would be better done in
fdisk? Any other ideas?

Thanks for the help!
(and I'm in digest mode, so my responses won't be immediate unless
you copy me directly)
