Linux4Win sounded like the perfect technology to use to play with
Linux on my laptop. The laptop uses the Chips and Technologies 65555
video chipset and has an active matrix screen set to 800X600
resolution. I checked the Mandrake home page and the 65555 is listed
as supported under Mandrake 7. I began the Linux4Win installation
process, I performed the pre-installation processes described in the
demo spotlight on the Mandrake home page but when the graphical
installer was supposed to start up it was impossible to see what was
said on my screen. I could see a ghost of a penguin near the top of
the screen but the bulk of the screen was completely black and
unreadable.

Does anyone know if there are any switches for Linux4Win that will
force it to give me a text based installation manager up until the
point that it lets me choose my X configuration with the C&T65555
controller? Obviously the simple graphics which should run on
anything don't run on my laptop.

Is there another way to approach the problem?
