[newbie] SMP not detecting

I have Mandrake 7.0 and my friends computer (same as mine, dual 550/BP6)
detects the 2 cpus just fine on install, but mine didn't.  How can I go
about making this work, and why didn't it detect it on install?  Any
help is appreciated.
