Hi everyone,
I downloaded the Latest Linux Mandrake image and
burnt it to a CD. When I try to install it using any of the described
methods I get the following error:
PCI_IDE: unknown IDE controller on PCI bus 00
device 39, VID=1022, DID=7409
PCI_IDE: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later ide0: BM-DMA at 0xf000-0xf007, BIOS settings: hda:DMA, hdb:DMA ide1: BM-DMA at 0xf008-0xf00f, BIOS settings: hda:pio, hdb:pio Then my system locks up forcing me to
restart. This happens when the OS loader is detecting the CD-ROM devices,
etc. I don't know what it fully means, and I'm new to Linux myself, so any
help would be great.
I have two IBM 20.5GB Hard Drives running in RAID striping mode0 Then they are partitioned into a 20.5 GB C:, a 10.25GB D:, and unpartitioned space for Linux, which is 10.25GB (or whatever it can use). The IDE RAID controller card I have is the Promise Fasttrak66 and it works 100% perfect in windows98. -Dave-
