A side note, but related:
I haven't even TRIED to make my box secure - just followed directions in
various how-to's. Apparently someone tried to hack/crack my box while I was
sitting here.
I saw my eth0 (dsl) connection suddenly spike for a few minutes. Asked my
buddy if it was him, did a last on each of the user names to see who was logged
in, couldn't find anything.
Later I was looking in the samba logs - sure enough, a denied ip was there.
Ain't linux great?
