Same problem with me. But I solved the probl;em by setting the monitor with extended VGA 800x600 at 60 Hz and 600x480 at 72 Hz let it works first, then you can cahnge it later on by using the DrakConf. Try it and let's see..okay ?
I'm a newbie too by the way.

Subject: [newbie] Compaq Laptop display

Hello,

I am reasonably new to Linux and I am having problems with the install. All seems to be well until I try and find a monitor in the last step.

My machine is a Compaq Presario 1200xl109 Laptop and the documentation I got with it isn't very comprehensive.  I have found that the driver is for a 'Trident CyberBlade i7 (47)' which is listed in the first part of the setup but then I cannot choose the correct monitor for the install to complete.

I have tried all the Compaq ones to no avail and I really would like to use the GUI in Linux-Mandrake.

Hope you can be of help.
