I usually use blackbox. I like it. It's fast and light, but of course,
it's a bit 'nude' in front of KDE, GNOME, or even enlightenment.
I'd advice you to try it to make your own idea.
If you want to start it without quitting your currently running Xwindow,
just go to a console abd type :
xinit -e blackbox -- :1
and it will open a new X server running blackbox.
