I'm having some problems getting my sb live card to work in Mandrake 7.0. I
downloaded the drivers (emu10k1-20000524) and installed per the instructions
that came in the pkg.

I made sure that the pnp option was turned off in the bios. Re-compiled the
kernel to ensure that sound support was turned on and no other sound cards were
selected. Ran "make" and insured that it picked up on my kernel version
(2.2.15), ran "install" and added the line "alias sound emu10k1" to my
modules.config file. Everything went smoothly, no errors reported at anytime
but when I go to test it I get no sound.

I then ran /usr/sbin/sndconfig. It picked up my soundcard, reporting that
indeed there is a sb live card in there somewhere, but auto configuration
failed (I didn't hear the test sound) so we started the manual config portion
and this is when I got my one and only error, "Error opening /dev/audio" which
is a symlink to /dev/audio0. I tried to open the file, with kde text editor,
just to see what was in there and received "error opening file" and it opened
to a blank page. I then tried to open it using EMACS and got the error "file is
there but could not be opened."

That's where I'm at right now, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jay Latham
