Are you logging in from KDM? If so, you should see a little pulldown button
just below where you type in your password. Hit the arrow and you will see
the options (you proably now have KDE as a default). The options include
Gnome, as well as several others (windowmaker, icewm, afterstep, fvwm2, etc.).
If you choose Gnome, the system will take a couple of minutes setting up
Enlightenment (the default wm for Gnome) and Gnome. Once you get into your
initial Gnome setup, you can configure as you like (background, theme, etc)
and can also switch window managers (try icewm instead of enlightenment) for
your Gnome setup)
