I have a pci 3Com/USRobotics 56K FaxModem model 5610 on one computer and I
got it to work with setserial. I looked in the KDE System Control >
Communications Control to get the port and irq. All the traditional places
like /proc/pci didn't help much, it was listed there but very vague (unknown
device) and since my sound card was pci and video card is agp (it is listed
in some places as pci).
But if you're going to buy a new one, Herman's suggestion to get an isa is a
good one. I have an isa SupraExpress on this other machine and sndconfig set
it up when it did the isa soundcard. Still had to setserial, but isapnp dump
told me which port and irq.
