Well, that worked perfectly. Now, how could one set that up to be done
automatically? Any one have any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem as you. I have tried every combination of
append=xxx and label=xxx, upper case M's and lower case m's all to no avail.
However, if I press tab at bootup and type "linux mem=256m" it does work.
It's a pain as you have to do it every time, but nice to know that you can
access that extra memory after all.
I dont understand why it works using this approach but it wont work if I
specify it in lilo.conf.
