[newbie] Aureal Vortex 2 is weird

OK, so my sound works fine on the desktop (kind of) but it doesn't work at all in UT.  Can anyone explain this?  I heard through the grapevine that maybe I should try piping it through esound, which I did.  No change though.  There were some recent posts about sound not working on some people's machines with different sound cards, and just to make sure, I checked those things out too.  Does anyone have an identical card that could give me some helpful hints?  I'm using an a3d vortex2 reference board, straight from the manufacturer.  But anyone using the vortex2 drivers from sourceforge might be having the same problems.   Thanx in advance for any replies, this list always comes through for me.   Adam
