There is a DSL modem made by Alcatel (External USB & Ethernet) that has Linux
drivers. I currently have a 3Com PCI that doesn't support Linux. The USB modem
will run you about $115 and the Ethernet about $150.

Does anybody using mandrake 8.0 have DSL working? If so, did you need to do
anything special to get it to work?
