Right now I have my internet connection up and running (adsl using rp-pppoe 3).
I would like to set up a simple internal firewall for my laptop.
I've used Bastille before (1.2) but always come up against the same problem.  (BTW I do need to install iptables before installing Bastille, correct?  Right now I have neither iptables nor ipchains installed.)  This problem is that after installation of Bastille and setting the rules, I become unable to browse internet sites by name (as opposed to ip) while logged in as a normal user.  I have no problem, however, as root.

I seem to recall this not being a problem if I don't install iptables (but then again, that's probably because it's not setting up any netfilter rules).  In order to fix this problem, the only thing that I've so far found is a reinstall of my system.  I have tried stopping Bastille and setting it to no longer begin at login or boot but this does not fix it.  (Perhaps there is an uninstall or undo script?)

I would like some guidance before trying to set it up again.  Maybe I can avoid another reinstall.

Thank You!

PS  Should I be using IPTables or the one called IPTables ip6 or something like that?
