Fire up the "Sound mixer" from Multimedia --> Sound. You'd want to adjust the main volume control (left-most one) and/or the one for "line". I make a link to the sound mixer in home/yourusername/.kde/Autostart so that it'll automatically be launched on startup (like in Windows).
