I am fed up with trying to make my LM system work. All I can get is a
console login which is boring and takes me back to the days of DOS. What is
more I don't now how to do anything useful from the console.

I think the problem is likely to be my video card or screen. When the system
tries to load the GUI the screen goes blank and switches onto standby. I
then have to reboot to windows.

I was going to try downloading xfree 4.1 but apparently I have to got to
Cooker for an LM version. This means nothing to me. All I want to do is get
LM8 working in a graphical environment so I can start exploring the
capabilities of Linux and decide whether to dump Windows. This is my last
try!
