[newbie] unknown sender

Hi. I just recieved an exe file from an 'unknown' sender.

How is this done, does anyone know?  I cannot reply to him as the machine 
recognises no address.  I can only assume it is a virus. but the lack of an 
address is puzzling.

I am using kmail
