You have connected the Digital I/O cable to the CD. Two wires right?

While this works (you'll need to enable the mixer apps to turn it on, as
it is off by default)... you really need to use an analog CD audio
cable, as this is what most Linux apps expect.

plugin
|because of the creative motherboard having the SBL! integrated.  As far
as
|hardware and windows go, I am am as good as a person can be, but I get
|humbled by linux.  It just seems odd that the sound would work when KDE
|starts up, but not when a cd is being played.
