It is dependant upon the logrotate scripts themselves.
Have a look. Some versions brought down the interfaces, others did not AFAIK. -JMS |-----Original Message----- |From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Franki |Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2001 7:00 AM |To: NEWBIE Mandrake List |Subject: RE: [newbie] Disconnect every 24 hours | | |Thats strange, I have a mdk7.2 box that has been connected via |dialup for 19 days straight now,, | |it is rotating the logs just fine, and I haven't been disconnected.. | |just my observations... | |Its not good as far as I am concerned, to have a possibly |mission critical server that can restart services at its own leasure... | |I can't imagine anyone doing that, but if its true, it would |require a script change for logrotate before I would allow it to run.. | |rgds | |Frank | |-----Original Message----- |From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |[mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Jose M. This issues an IF-DOWN and |IF-UP command to your network devices, disconnecting you from your ISP. | |Check to see what time it happens. I leave my pc pretty much |connected to the ||internet 24/7. Since installing LM8.0, it will disconnect every 24 ||hours, almost to the second. To get around it, I have configured my ||dial-up to ||re-dial when disconnected. At first I suspect there is ||something in the cron ||files, which is causing this event. There is one directory called ||cron.daily. I have looked into the different files in this "daily" ||directory, but I don't recognize anything, which would make me ||think cron is ||forcing a disconnect every 24 hours. Any ideas as to what ||might be causing ||this event? Thanks... || ||Regards, || ||Dexter || || | | | | |
