Brand new to Linux. Installed Mandrake 8.1 on a Dell Optiplex GX1p with 256 mb ram and 2 EIDE hard drives. Would not boot from the install CD but did boot from IsoLinux on CD2. Changed back to CD1 and the install went well. No other OS on this machine. When the machine rebooted 'LIL' - no 'O'- appeared on the screen and everything stopped. Had to turn the box off. Then tried to boot from the boot diskette created by the install. Got the message "Kernel not found".
Any suggestions as to what to try next? Have actually re-installed twice - both times without problem once I booted from CD2. Thanks for any help. Gerald Serwer
