I just love WD myself, I just lost a 15gig HD in the middle of an update on a
windows machine. I had two of them on my linux box and had nothing but
problems with both of them, so I made the box a backup for my wife's Windows
/AOL (now there is a combo for ya) machine. Fortunately I have learned to
listen to the voices and had it backed up in two different places. The HD
was only about 1 to 1 1/2 years old and had not seen hard use. It still
boots but quits after it warms up a bit, then nothing, no mouse, no keyboard.
I believe I will stay with Maxtor and IBM HDs from now on, or at least until
somebody makes a better one. But never WD again.
