Although I am rather new to Linux, I go back to before the CP/M days in computing. However, I have a question pertaining to the CPU requirement for Mandrake V8.1 vs other distributions, Specifically SuSE V7.3.
The systems I run here on Linux are based on the "old" AMD K6-2/300 CPU. I've noted that Mandrake V8.1 runs quite a bit slower than SuSE V7.3 on the same platforms. I know Mandrake was optimized for Pentium CPUs, whereas the SuSE distribution still specifies a 486DX CPU as its minimum spec processor. Any comments, and has anyone else seen similar results? Tnx, Don
