you can do a search in console by doing su > root password> and then at the 
prompt type "locate java" or if you are a gui guy like me, in console type 
kpackage and then click on the Magnifying glass and in the search box type 
java or jre and then click on find, and then click on find again until it 
starts repeating what it has already found.  This will locate the various 
java files for  you and then if you click on the file tab  it will list the 
locations of all of the files/libs associated with the named package.  Most 
of the java files will be in /usr somewhere IIRC. HTH
