One other thing I forgot, the newest is gphoto2. You can use it with the 
frontend "gtkam" and it has much better usb support and a whole lot more 
drivers.  That's what I use with a Kodak DC3400 and it works very well, 
better than the windows software that came with the camera.  HTH
