Yes its annoying isn't it.
Whats happening is this.
KDE has an application called krootwarning setup to execute whenever a 
desktop starts up. It checks to see if the user has logged in as root, and if 
they have it will put up a banner telling them that logging in as root is a 
seriously bad idea. 

If the user has not logged in as root, krootwarning will quietly exit, but it 
will leave the little hourglass sitting at the bottom of your screen for 30 
seconds.

To get rid of it delete /usr/share/autostart/krootwarning.desktop

if you still want root to get the messages then move krootwarning.desktop to 
/root/.kde/Autostart
