First, don't worry about the
(EE) Failed to load module "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.a"
error message. It is not the cause of hte problem. X will still work
with that error. A better place to look for the problem is
.xsession-errors in your home directory, and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

One thing to keep in mind - if you have an older laptop, be prepared for
it to take a while to start the window manager the first time, especialy
if you are running KDE. There is a fair amount of setup that has to be
done the first time.

There is one other thing that will cause a fairly long delay in starting
X. If you specified a hostname for your machine, or you are getting one
as part of bringing up you Ethernet connection, and the name can not be
looked up, then there is a DNS timeout delay when starting X. This delay
is about 90 seconds. The easy fix is to make sure there is an entry in
/etc/hosts for your hostname. Something like:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localnet localhost <your host name>
works...
