Hi,
Some days ago I installed MandrivaLinux on my old pc.
But I have a problem. My screensaver doesn't work properly. I use KDE as
my Desktop manager. I ocnfigured that the screensaver starts after 1
min. but I get after 1 min. only a black screen. If I push on the
preview button everything works just fine.
I also installed xscreensaver. If I start xscreensaver manually when I'm
logged in it works fine. But I don't want to start it all the time
manually.
Could someone tell me why I can't control my screensaver with KDE?
Thanks,
Koen
It's been like that for me since I first started using Mandrake, right through
from 10.0 community to 10.1 official. I believe that some of the screen
savers work, but many of them don't. I think it was the basic X screen savers
(not the KDE-specific ones) that don't work. There was supposed to be a fix
for it at some point, but either it didn't work or it never arrived.
xscreensaver works well for me. I have a script file
"launch-xscreensaver.sh" which contains the single line "xscreensaver
&". This is kept in /home/graham/.kde/Autostart so it starts up with kde
(and with xfce4 and IceWM). Choosing the screensaver is done from the
command line with the command "xscreensaver-demo", and most of them seem
to work. They are all more impressive than the screensavers that come
with KDE.
Hope this is some help.
Cheers,
