Check the /etc/inittab => if the "default" is set to 3, then it will just take
you to a console login. If it's set to 5, that will give you a GUI login.
That being said, if you find that it's 3 and change it to 5 and reboot, you
should get a GDM (Graphical Display Manager). I personally prefer to use
runlevel 3 so that I'm able to troubleshoot X issues and also play with other
window managers/desktops. You can install Xtart (as root, urpmi Xtart) if you
want to stick in the console mode and switch between your different window
managers/desktops...nice utility that.

You should be able to just type: startx => then the X session will fire up -
IF you've configured X properly - because if you didn't - or if there are
other issues at hand, X will spit the dummy and just take you back to the
console.

Two different ways. 1.) For a reboot, type: reboot 2.) For a clean shutdown,
type: poweroff

We generally slaughter them by the thousands and have a huge barbie
afterwards, but we've been deterred from that practise for some time now as
it's frowned upon by the establishment.

Patience is a virtue, catch it if you can. Found seldom in a woman, and never
in a man.

Get the specs on your system from the manufacturer. For the vid card and for
the LCD. If you're in console mode, you can type (as root): XFdrake => make
all necessary changes to the X config from there. Easy peasy.

You say that to ALL the forums, don't ya?
