Don't be alarmed if Mdv refuse to show the card or states that it's
corrupt ....... it isn't, Mandriva has problems with some cards. :-(

An easyer way to do the same thing:

fdisk -l /dev/sda

If it returns without printing anything, fdisk could not read a
partition table.

Ah, learned something again. ;-)

It most certainly is a much safer way than running "fdisk" itself ....... nice! Pity it still requires root status.

fdisk or fdisk -l is the same. so still showing device's partition information but can't access it.
