There are three ways (probably more) to share files between Linux computers samba - works with Windows too nfs- linux only and relatively hard to set up so I will ignore it. fish - linux only and dead easy to set up To set up networking with fish Install openssh-server and openssh-client on each machine. Ensure the sshd service is running. Look in the "Devices" icon on your desktop. you should see the remote machine and can browse it, or alternatively in the url line of konqueror enter fish://[EMAIL PROTECTED] You will be prompted for password, it is possible to make access passwordless but that is more complicated. To network with Samba install samba-server samba-client start smb service Look in "Devices" icon click on remote computer. or smb://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/ in konqueror or start smb4k and click on network. If shorewall firewall is running then samba and fish will both be blocked. derek -- www.jennings.homelinux.net http://twiki.mdklinuxfaq.org
