Yes, an it's hacked by Mand* to allow that. A more recent
kernel, eg, 2.6.12 is not similarly patched.

overblown, and that if you were getting buffer underruns something was
configured wrong? And, IIRC, Charles or Kaj posted that they were burning as
user with absolutely no problems.
