When I set it up I had the external monitor connected , now configure the
Video display under mcc, If it detects a twin head arrangement it will give
you the option to configure the heads independently or together.
and yes you can have different resolutions on them
Laptop running 1024X768 17" Flatscreen running 1280X1024 @60cycles

I do this without requiring anything special, I though it worked like that by default becuase that's my scenario. I'm running an HP-Compaq nx9030 with Intel chipset and a sony data show.
