Logging out gets me a 404: I just got finished wrestling with Yahoo on the same problem. :-))) Yahoo is a MAJOR PITA!! They do all sorts of odd things to snoop and deliver ads, and they vary these things with time and with pages. It can be a mess if you don't use IE wide open. I use Proxomitron, a pgm similar to Privoxy. On the prox list there is a steady stream of emails discussing how to fix the current problems with Yahoo. It has been this way for YEARS. It's at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Ironic to discuss getting around Yahoo on their own list. :-) Maybe the reason why they change so often is that the prox list people are good at finding fixes that still maintain privacy, but by reading the list, Yahoo knows JUST what to change to re-break it. :-)) Probably not good to use a communication system built by the enemy. :-)) P> Does anyone know of a fix for this? On the comp I was using, I could not sign off even switching privoxy off. I switched to another comp, and went through the usual Firefox / Konq / Opera trials. Made it through once, still not signed off. Went back and started disabling various options. One of the combos finally DID sign me off, but I didn't note what made it work. Sorry - I was just relieved to be able to sign off. I don't need to do this very often, so it is just an annoyance, but I'd like to hear what the fix is if you get one. Also, be aware that a fix may have a limited lifetime. P> I found that using the big hosts file without going through privoxy P> already 'solves' many ad-problems. True. The biggest problem with that is keeping it up to date. One advantage of the hosts file is that it also helps stop new 'sneaky' snoops that are devised to get around the usual privacy tools. Also note that using it can still cause problems with some pages. Always a tradeoff..... -- rikona mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
