And lastly, if this is a really good package (and it sounds like it is
from what you've said), is compatible with a modern distro, and is GPL,
you might want to request an rpm via the Mandriva Club page. If a
volunteer takes on the package, you'll have an rpm package(s) available
in Contribs :)

As I said before, it's already in cooker. And I can see it in the
"contrib" repository for mandriva 2006. Just configuring urpmi
correctly with easyurpmi (http://easyurpmi.zarb.org) will get you the
program without hassles. Should, at least.

It does not work for me here, but that is x86_64, not sure how it would in the 32bit version, same error,

urpmq -f gourmet
gourmet-0.8.5.12-1mdk.noarch
[EMAIL PROTECTED] MEZE0002]# urpmi gourmet
Some package requested cannot be installed:
gourmet-0.8.5.12-1mdk.noarch (due to unsatisfied metakit-python)
Continue? (Y/n) y
[EMAIL PROTECTED] MEZE0002]# urpmq -f metakit-python
no package named metakit-python

at least for this program and this newbie, dependancy heck....
community 2006 sources
even rpmfind does not offer metakit-python in x86_64.

such is the state of 64 bit computing still....
maybe try the 32bit version?
