Tried rebooting the router - no difference, another port, the same. I
brought along another network card, put it in and it worked right
away. I'm not sure why the on-board net connection worked just fine on
my LAN but not there. Anyway, it was a quick and dirty solution.

Tried a manual install of the recommended printer driver [after the
net was working], but no go - still won't print. Tried a couple of
alternate drivers too, but no luck. Seems to find the right printer,
so I assume the parallel port is OK.

Still chuggin away.....
