I'm pretty sure everyone has seen issues with just about every service model
offered from different vendors even in Open Source. I have been in the field
for a number of years but only in a professional model for around 7 or so. In
my primary environments I use RHEL for enterprise class hosts/services and the
cost associated is a huge leap over what memberships are for Mandriva Club.
That being said, my 'personal' preference is still Mandriva for my smaller
servers and workstations. Even with all the flaws and issues it still IMHO
shows the most potential.

After seeing what the company has gone through including mistakes AND
successes, they still show tons of promise and potential. For me, the next
couple of years will dictate their direction and until then I'll keep
supporting them. I never got a club membership for support or benefits or
mirror/ftp/torrent access (although it's a nice bonus), I got my membership to
support a distro I would like to see advance and optimize. I can understand
the frustration however ;-) ... I've had my share of lack of support and lack
of decent CS when it came to things I just took for granted should work OR
took for granted that the company I was supporting wasn't delivering quite to
it's potential on some deliverables it claimed to offer as part of a club
membership.

Anyway this is just my two cents ... like most of you I'm sure, I've tried
every distro, including a TON that are no longer around or failed miserably.
For now I will continue to support Mandriva however I can; offering support
and help, contributing a little financially by taking advantage of club
membership, giving constructive feedback etc ... in my experience this is the
only way to help shape an contribute to the success of a company.

In an Open Source model trying to carve a niche in enterprise, a big fan base
and contributory users such as yourselves are essential to its' success ...
sometimes that means enduring years of miss-haps and mistakes before a
polished model can be excersized ;-) In this respect Mandriva is in no way
any different then any other distro or O/S out there .... again like a lot of
people on this list I've tried and even worked with just about every one you
can think of including some that don't exist anymore ... the ones that failed
were the ones that either completely sucked ... or had no following or
users/technicians to help it progress. Some of the ones that did succeed only
did so because they had a wack of $ to throw at it ;-)
