Slackware is rather minimalistic, which sometimes can be a pain... on the other hand I like it for clarity.
Run X -configure as root, try it, if doesn't work read through man 5 XFree (or xfree? XF86? X? xf86? cant remem, try :) and tweak by hand. U *did* install with pkgtool, did ya?
