Xconfigurator --preferxf4

is the Red Hat preferred way to set this up as the default.  This will 
produce the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and set the appropriate symlink of 
/usr/X11R6/bin/X to the appropriate server.

p.s. check out the documentation that is on the RH website and/or that 
came as printed manuals with your copy of RH7.2.
