It suffices to change /etc/X11/X from a symlink to whichever X 3.3.6 server was 
selected (possibly
/usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_SVGA) to a symlink to /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86. note that 
XF86Config-4 will be
used as a config file with X 4.x.x (XF86Config is used with X 3.3.6)
